They have made the transition. You too can do the same.
Al first joined Northwell Health in 2015 as a Talent Acquisition Specialist and has since advanced to a Talent Acquisition Manager. He is also participating in the Officer Candidate School with the Army National Guard. This 18-month program provides the tools to succeed as a leader and advance to the rank of Lieutenant, which Al has now become. Al credits this training with helping him grow his ability to lead and to develop others.“Northwell is truly the best place that I have worked. Northwell goes well above and beyond with all that they do and the different programs they offer to help military personnel and veterans.”
Samantha was first introduced to Northwell Health through our Barracks to Business seminar in the summer of 2016. She learned how to demonstrate the connection between her military skills and how it translated and added value to the civilian workforce. And, after a few months of working with the Military and Veteran Liaison Services team, she joined our Center for Equity of Care team as a Project Coordinator. Here she learned about our communication services and the linguistic diversity of our patient population and took on a position managing the Language and Communication Acmes Program. In April 2019, Samantha was promoted into her current Director role.
Andrew oversees the integration of hospitals and large acquisition at Northwell Health. Here, he is able to focus on the experience of the employees that join our organization and takes an active role in welcoming them to the Northwell family. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, he knows that teamwork and service are at the foundation of mission success, and the things he appreciates about Northwell is that our organization is unified in our mission to provide world-class service to our patients and their families. “In the military, there’s a sense you are a part of something bigger than yourself and a real sense of service. Many of the people I’ve worked with at Northwell share that same sense of purpose and I love it.”
Jared Singer’s five years of active duty in the United States Air Force provided exposure to a variety of emergency medicine and training experiences. After the Air Force, Jared completed his BSN and looked to begin his nursing career. He attended Northwell’s Military Veteran Networking Event where he met our dedicated Veteran’s Liaison. In 2019, Jared was hired into our Critical Care Fellowship program and is now doing his part to raise our quality of care.
“I was able to sit in on a seven-hour surgery and was honestly blown away with the technology, professionalism and skills every individual had in performing such integrate procedures. I’m constantly learning and evolving every single day my feet are on the hospital floor, and I couldn’t have asked for a better first job after separating from the Air Force.”
Desiree leverages the experience she gained while in the U.S. Army every day when it comes to her work as a Medical Assistant at Northwell Health where she started in 2014. The compassionate and empathetic care she demonstrated as a Field Medic while serving translates perfectly into our mission of delivering world-class care. She leans on her experience developing strategies to provide first aid and trauma care in the military to enhance the way we work as a team within our organization. Northwell Health provides veterans with the support they need to facilitate a smooth and rewarding transition to civilian life. Also, being a part of the veteran’s mentorship program Desiree feels equipped with endless opportunities to advance her career with Northwell Health at her side.
“My favorite part about being a Medical Assistant at Northwell Health is meeting new people and learning more about them. I love helping people feel at ease before their visit with the provider.”
