Students have an opportunity to learn about different healthcare careers through high-school programs, college internships, nursing externships and fellowships, educational opportunities and more.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workforce, Northwell Health has partnered with Adelphi University to provide internship opportunities to their students with autism spectrum disorders. Students in the BRIDGES to Adelphi program gain valuable work experience in their course of study during this 8-week paid summer internship.
The Data Science Internship program is a specialized program looking for hands-on Data Science and Visualization students who are ready to champion data-driven product development. The program will select top students from a variety of schools to create diverse teams. Projects will be selected to represent key problems worth solving which have direct applicability to Northwell clinicians, patients, and team members.

Help discover and develop tomorrow’s medical breakthroughs. Paid summer internship opportunities at The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research are available to high school, undergraduate and graduate students, and provide hands-on experience and exposure to the myriad of career opportunities available in the growing field of medical research.
Designed for culinary students, this paid externship is designed for students to experience first-hand, the importance of food in health care. Under the guidance of an executive Chef and/or Sous Chef, the externship will include immersive learning about food as care, nutrition training and community food access in addition to technical delivery of quality, fresh and healthy food. Our externs will participate in this immersive opportunity lead by Michelin Star chef Bruno Tison, AVP, system food services.
This extensive 10-week paid summer internship is open to current undergraduate college juniors with a record of outstanding academic achievement and leadership abilities. Through this unique program, you will gain exposure to the roles and responsibilities of a healthcare administrator in one of our many participating hospitals and clinical service lines.

Our paid Hospitality in Healthcare internship focuses on a non-clinical and holistic approach to enhancing the patient and customer experience under the guidance of our Office of Patient & Customer Experience (OPCE). This program was designed to expose students to various areas that can impact the experience of our patients and their families.

As a Human Resources Associate Intern at Northwell, you will have the opportunity to experience the inner workings of a best-in-class HR team through real, hands-on project work at New York State’s largest private employer and healthcare provider. During your 10-week paid summer internship, you will participate in two, five-week rotations that will allow you to understand how our HR team impacts our organization far beyond recruitment and benefits. You will join our HR team of more than 550 professionals to gain full comprehensive knowledge of what it takes to support more than 70,000 team members committed to making a difference every day.

The Software Engineering Internship program is a specialized program looking for hands-on Software Engineering and Design students who are ready to ship code to deliver components of 2-4 applications as a team during the co-op duration. The program will select top students from a variety of schools to create diverse teams. These teams will manage and execute on their projects end-to-end with frequent stakeholder feedback. Each team will be mentored by Senior Software Engineers, but you will write the code.

Nursing students who have completed their first year of clinical rotation can join Northwell Health in entry-level roles such as Nursing Assistant, Ward Clerk and PCA. Give your nursing career a head start by getting to know our units and our hospitals, while enhancing your clinical education and experience.
Under the guidance of nurse preceptors this 8-week, paid summer internship is open to nursing students who have completed their junior year of study. This program will enhance your clinical knowledge, competence, and confidence through mentorship and applied patient care experiences.

Bringing together both didactic and clinical experiences, our nurse fellowship programs offer a comprehensive orientation for licensed new graduates as well as experienced RNs looking to specialize.

This program was created in partnership with The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research to raise awareness of the multidisciplinary nature of medical research careers, encourage creative thinking, and assist school districts and industry leaders in developing future talent.
Through the research completed as part of this program, students will gain a deeper understanding of current healthcare issues and gain important teamwork, communication and problem solving skills. Student teams also have the opportunity to showcase their work at the Medical Marvels Competition, where they will present to judges, researchers, and their fellow peers. The Spark! Challenge encourages 11th and 12th grade students to explore diverse career paths and ignite their interest in health-related Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers. Students work closely with professional leaders in the field, collaborate on innovative projects, and cultivate valuable teamwork and communication skills. Student teams are invited to participate in a one-day, on-site experience designed to showcase a variety of STEM-related healthcare careers.
Spark! is designed to be an engaging and eye-opening experience that helps provide direction toward future career paths. Students will see just how much each member of healthcare teams contributes to the organization in both clinical or non-clinical roles. Tuition for this exciting opportunity is $850.00 and members of approved New York State EMS Agencies pay no tuition! Textbooks and equipment require an additional fee.
Our students are provided unprecedented access to clinical and educational experiences unique only to Northwell Health. Our newly structured 15-month Paramedic program expands the use of online learning, reducing classroom session attendance while increasing student participation in skills, simulation and standardized patient encounter sessions.

At Northwell Health, our Home Health Aides work in a remarkably rewarding setting where your patients will generally enjoy decreased healing time, improved mental health and an increased sense of dignity. We’re providing a FREE Home Health Aide Training Course to get you started on this Truly Compassionate career path.
We offer training courses throughout the year at several locations. The course combines 75 hours of classroom training with 16 hours of supervised practical training. Glen Cove High School students gain hands-on knowledge about the fast-growing career field of laboratory science as part of Northwell Health’s Spark! Challenge, which is a program that teaches high school students about different healthcare careers.
Northwell Health is Co-Steward (with Brookhaven National Lab) of the Long Island STEM Hub, a regional effort focused on engaging and aligning business and educational communities to increase the number of students interested in and prepared for STEM careers. The STEM Hub works closely on local, state and national levels to increase awareness and promote the importance of STEM careers.
